Camera Equipment Repair Technician

AbelCine is a leading Digital Cinema and HD technology company servicing the filmmaking, broadcast and new media industries. We offer sales, rental, technical services and financing to the professional production community with offices in NY, CHI and LA. Our NYC headquarters is currently seeking a Camera Equipment Repair Technician to join our Tech Services team.

The focus of this position is to provide repair, maintenance, cleaning and quality assurance of professional cinema and broadcast cameras and accessories as well as on-site installation and technical support.  This is an excellent opportunity for a dynamic, hardworking individual to participate in our exciting and fast-paced company. 

This key position encompasses the following responsibilities: 

  • Digital camera repair and maintenance 
  • Monitor repair and calibration 
  • Camera system and accessory repair 
  • Custom cable assembly 
  • Mechanical repair of tripods, matte boxes, follow focus, and other accessories. 
  • Provide onsite tech support for installations and studio builds  
  • Client phone and on-site technical support 
  • Provide technical support for Rental and Sales Departments   

Successful applicants should possess the following attributes: 

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent technical, hands-on industry experience 
  • 1+ years of experience performing mechanical troubleshooting and repair 
  • Skills and proficiency with soldering 
  • Experience with electronic repair, mechanical repair and assembly 
  • Experience with Sony, ARRI, Canon and RED digital cinema cameras 
  • Experience with digital cinema production, fiber systems, formats, and post-production workflows 
  • Proficiency in reading mechanical and electronic schematics 
  • IT skills and experience with Mac OS and Windows platforms 
  • Experience performing monitor calibrations and familiarity with industry standards is a plus  
  • Exceptional communication skills, including professional written and verbal communication 
  • Ability to work autonomously, as well as with clients and coworkers to hit deadlines 

Physical Effort:

  • Prolonged standing, walking for the length of the work shift
  • Sitting and standing work at a computer, requiring frequent use of computer monitors 
  • Moving supplies and equipment requiring moderate physical effort (lift/carry/push/pull up to 75 lbs.)
  • Manual dexterity and mobility
  • Frequent reaching, bending, kneeling, and crouching
  • Occasionally remove or replace supplies or equipment weighing up to 25 lbs. from locations at or above shoulder level

This is a full-time, on-site, non-exempt position. The work schedule will be Monday - Friday, 9 AM - 6 PM, with occasional overtime, as needed. The annual salary range is 50K - 55K, commensurate with experience, and a comprehensive benefits package which includes:
