AbelCine, a leading equipment and technology provider for the broadcast, production, and new media industries, is seeking experienced freelance Media Managers to join our roster for as-needed coverage on behalf of one of our major clients. This flexible, on-call opportunity is ideal for seasoned professionals who are available to provide support during staff absences, high-volume periods, or special projects.

As a Media Manager on our roster, you will oversee the ingestion, organization, and management of video files and digital assets within our client’s Media Asset Management (MAM) and Digital Asset Management (DAM) systems. This may also include generating same-day review files, preparing transcripts, and occasionally serving as an on-site Digital Imaging Technician (DIT) during events.

This is a great opportunity for detail-oriented media professionals with Adobe Creative Suite expertise and a strong understanding of media formats, storage protocols, and workflow optimization.

Key Responsibilities:

• Ingest and organize video files in MAM/DAM systems with proper formatting and metadata tagging
• Create same-day review files and coordinate file transfers with external vendors
• Generate and organize transcripts in support of content accessibility
• Utilize Adobe Premiere Pro, After Effects, and Media Encoder for basic editing and troubleshooting
• Support production and post-production teams with asset prep and delivery
• Perform quality control checks and resolve media ingestion or playback issues
• Occasionally act as onsite DIT for live events, managing real-time file ingestion and storage
• Maintain and update best practices documentation for media handling

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Digital Media, Film, Communications, or equivalent experience
• 3+ years of experience with MAM/DAM systems (e.g., CatDV, Dalet, Adobe Experience Manager)
• Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, especially Premiere Pro, After Effects, and Media Encoder
• Strong knowledge of video formats, transcoding, and backup workflows
• Excellent communication, organization, and time management skills
• Ability to work independently and jump into established workflows quickly
• Flexibility for occasional late hours or short-notice assignments

Preferred Skills:

• Experience with DIT workflows and media wrangling at live events
• Familiarity with automation tools (e.g., Telestream Vantage, Signiant)
• Understanding of DRM and video copyright compliance

This is not a full-time or temp-to-perm role. Rather, we’re building a pool of go-to Media Managers we can call on when coverage is needed. When activated, the schedule will typically be Monday–Friday, 9 AM – 6 PM, but may vary depending on client/project needs.

Location: Onsite – Midtown Manhattan, NY
Compensation: $480 – $500 per day (when assigned), based on experience
